This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Post Consumer Brands. All opinions are entirely my own. My recipe for Monster Munch Snack Mix is a perfect way to reign in the fall season.
Snack. What do you think about the word “snack”? Does it conjure up images in your mind or does it evoke a coveted feeling of rest, escape or indulgence? I got a chuckle on a recent flight as the flight attendants were coming down the aisle offering snacks and almost everyone was willingly accepting. Face it. We. Just. Need. Snacks! So, some of my favorite things are snacks, relaxation, family time and fall – gotta have fall in there. I was inspired to come up with a new snack to ring in the coming fall season. I give you Monster Munch Snack Mix!
After creating my new fall snack, it was time to gather the family around and spend some time together munching away and maybe having some family video game time. My kids usually play on their own, but it’s a big deal when mom takes the time to join in. That’s why I keep hearing “We need a Nintendo Switch!” And now, there’s a new Super Mario Odyssey game coming out that they are bending my ear about.
The Monster Munch Snack Mix was a definite hit – mostly because my kids love cereal, and Golden Crisp® happens to be the main ingredient. I paired it with some of their other favorites: white chocolate chips (I have to hide the bags or the chips disappear), Pumpkin Pie M&M’s, buttery pretzel squares, cashews and candy pumpkins.
My guys tell me we’d have a ton of fun together if we joined Mario on his massive, globe-trotting 3D adventure as he uses his incredible new abilities to collect Moons. After researching, they tell me the Moons are the source of power for your airship as you navigate through the Odyssey to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser’s wedding plans! Mario also has a new friend too – Cappy, who helps you capture all sorts of things, including objects and enemies while using brand-new moves in the Odyssey experience.
Family time can be even sweeter with the Nintendo Switch game system which combines the power of a home console with the mobility of a handheld. So you get more time to play the games you love, however you like. The Nintendo Switch System comes packaged with the main unit, a left and right Joy-Con with a Joy-Con wrist strap for each. Therefore, it’s a multi-player experience right out of the box for your kids/family! Great for Super Mario Odyssey. Hear that mom? A multiplayer system, so more of us can join in the fun.
Now here is the sweet deal. Buy your box of Golden Crisp with the special marked packaging, which is the main ingredient for my Monster Munch Snack Mix, and double down by finding the Golden Crisp Post/Nintendo cereal box (only available for a limited time) in your store. These boxes will give a code that you can use to enter for a chance to win 1 in 500 Nintendo Switch Console + New Super Mario Odyssey Video Game Prize Pack. I think it’s awesome that Post is joining with Nintendo to offer the sweepstakes. Post Golden Crisp has been a family favorite at our house forever. It’s a satisfyingly sweet and crunchy puffed wheat cereal that puts the fun in breakfast. And now with my Monster Munch Snack Mix, we can hope for a chance to extend that fun to family time with the Nintendo Switch and Super Mario Odyssey. A sweet deal for sure.
Monster Munch Snack Mix
Ingredients
- 4 cups Golden Crisp cereal
- 1 cup square pretzels
- 1 cup jumbo cashews
- 2 8 oz bags Pumpkin Pie M&Ms
- 1 22 oz bag candy pumpkins
- 2 cups white chocolate chips divided
- 1 Tbs canola oil
Instructions
- In a very large bowl, combine the first five ingredients, plus 3/4 cup of the white chocolate chips.
- In a microwave safe bowl, add remaining 1 1/4 cup white chocolate chips and canola oil, and heat on high for 60 seconds. Stir and microwave in 30 second increments, as needed, until chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Pour melted chocolate over entire bowl of cereal mix, and stir until everything is coated. Dump mix out onto two wax paper-lined baking sheets. Allow to cool completely, so chocolate can harden and not be sticky.
- Store in an airtight container.
