One thing I love about my kids’ school is the fall and winter break that most schools don’t get. We have a full week in September and in February. I prefer to vacation when the rest of the world isn’t vacationing – it means less crowds! We spent our winter break at the absolute perfect location, and we hardly wanted to leave. I’ve got at least 16 reasons to love The Ridge Tahoe Resort, and I’m sure you’ll find even more when you visit! There’s so much going on that you don’t even have to leave the property. It’s one place you wouldn’t mind getting snowed in, but visiting this location in South Lake Tahoe during summer would be equally fun!
Indoor/Outdoor hot tubs and swimming pools – With snow all around, we absolutely loved warming up in the indoor and outdoor hot tubs. We were on the 8th floor of our building, which had an indoor and outdoor hot tub on each end of our hall, for a total of 4! We were in those hot tubs a couple of times a day! We had fun going outside and taking in the amazing views while taking a soak, and then dipping into the indoor one to finish warming up our top half.
Racquet Ball, basketball, tennis courts and fitness center – The fitness center is open all day for getting your workout in and the courts can all be reserved for an hour at a time. We had a blast playing wallyball in the racquet ball room.
Amazing views – We actually switched sides of the hall, halfway through our stay so from one room we could see the whole Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe from our other room. The views don’t get much better than that of The Ridge Tahoe Resort! Just heavenly!
Transportation from building to building and free rides into Heavenly Village. There are phones near the elevator and in little outbuildings, where you can call transportation to come pick you up from your building and take you to another building. Because the resort has numerous buildings with different activities and features in each one, it’s super nice that they offer transportation between them all. You can also catch rides into Heavenly Village!
Movie theater – Twice a day the onsite movie theater plays movies! One movie is more family friendly while the other would make for a fun date night. We enjoyed introducing the kids to My Big Fat Greek Wedding! We took popcorn and snacks from our room.
Full kitchen – The full kitchen is amazing for saving money on eating out, but also so you can not have to leave the resort if you don’t want to! If the weather gets bad then you’ll have everything you need!
Crafting classes – Each week, different crafting classes are offered to guests, included in your resort fee.
Pool and ping pong – We loved playing pool as a family and creating our own tournament. There is a pool table in the kids’ game room, but it’s not in as great of shape as the one in the main building. Such a blast!
Tennis lessons – Every day there are tennis lessons for different age groups, including the kids!
Weekly Bingo – One day, Keith and I went into the movie theater where they had a fun game of Bingo WITH PRIZES! Unfortunately we didn’t win, but it was fun nonetheless.
Cooking demonstrations – We got the time wrong on the cooking demonstration, but they host a short cooking demo with sampling.
Kids’ club – For several hours each day, you can opt to drop your kids off in the kids’ club, where they have an itinerary of different activities each day. Our kids are a little older and we didn’t end up using the club, but it was so nice to know we could! If big kids want to hit the slopes, you can drop the littles off at the club!
On-site market – Pick up souvenirs, sleds or a variety of groceries for your cooking needs. They have all the basic necessities you should need so you don’t have to run to town. The prices are a bit higher, but it’s nice not to have to leave.
Nearby sledding and skiing – Catch a lift just off the property, where transportation will drop you off, to Heavenly ski slopes! We also found a nice sledding hill just below the property.
Wallyball socials – Every evening there are wallyball socials for adults only. Play and visit with other residents or guests.
Entertainment nearby in Heavenly Village, such as Magic Fusion: Magic & Comedy Show. We headed to the Magic Fusion: Magic & Comedy Show at the Loft Theatre and it was a blast. Matt Marcy was our comedian/magician and he was great. For a fun evening out with the family, this was good clean fun and loads of laughs!
There is so much to love about The Ridge Tahoe Resort, summertime or winter so make it your next destination!
