Have a group of 50-60 somethings who need a relaxing getaway? Read all about how my mother-in-law and her siblings take on Hofsas House in Carmel. What better way to spend National Sibling Day than on a mini vacay with your own siblings!
To say this year has been a trying one for my mother-in-law would be an understatement. The death of her husband, an ankle reconstruction and then another surgery on her foot. My mother-in-law is such a trooper and always in such high spirits. She’s always looking to how she can care for others, no matter her state. When I learned a few of her siblings were coming for an impromptu visit, I knew just where to send them for a little reprieve. Y’all know how much I love Hofsas House in Carmel so I reached out and they were quick to accommodate this fun group.
If you’ve followed me a while then you’ve heard me say all the things I love about Hofsas House and Carmel and Monterey. I thought I’d take a different approach and let my mother-in-law and her siblings give their two cents about the amazing time they had and their take on Carmel and Monterey over 3 days and 2 nights.
New take on Hofsas House
“It was so delightful to stay at the Hofsas House in Carmel by the Sea with the beautiful grounds and landscàping, and the quaint Scandinavian exterior. The rooms were clean and spacious with extremely comfortable beds. But our favorite part of Hofsas House was the staff; so friendly, helpful and cheerful. We’ll definitely come back when we visit Carmel again. The grounds and landscàping were so beautiful. It was a pleasure just to wander around.”
–Aunt Lori
“The grounds were so well manicured with lush foliage ànd coastal flowers. I also enjoyed the sauna and pool repeatedly, and we even ate breakfast by the pool one morning. The rooms were large and spacious with extremely comfortable beds.”
–Uncle Dean
“The staff was so helpful and friendly and one morning they questioned what our agenda was for the day. When we told them we were headed to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, they offered to sell us tickets so we could avoid the lines. The best part about buying tickets at the hotel was that we got a second day for free. Yay! So we went to the Aquarium two days and enjoyed the less hectic 2 day adventure.
Hofsas House was so close to the beach that we were able to enjoy Mother Nature’s beauties. We walked to the beach 4 times in three days. The best! We were able to view sea otters, star fish, crabs, barnacles and mussels at low tide. Find out the low and high tide times and the sunrise and sunset times because you won’t want to miss those. The sunset was especially spectacular. We also enjoyed watching the brown pelicans fly and fish.”

“The shops and restaurants were easily accessible from Hofsas House, and there were art galleries on every corner. So fun to peruse and appreciate the different displays of art and wares.
Also, even though Hofsas was close to the downtown area, it was far enough away to not be bothered by the noise and chaos of the shops and hustle and bustle of downtown.”
–Uncle Lance
From the photos to the raving commentary, you can tell this fun bunch had a fantastic time. I’m so appreciative of great people like Carrie over at Hofsas House, and her adorable hotel. We love any chance we can stop by, and given the year my Mother-in-law has had, it was even more of a treat for me to be able to set them up with such a wonderful vacay. You’ll never be disappointed with the comfort, charm and location of Hofsas House in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
