The Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge is over and boy was I ready for a little rest after a 6 week whirlwind master bath renovation. There are so many components that go into bathroom remodels and shower remodeling projects that I want to take some time to break down some of the real show stoppers. No master bath renovation would be complete without new mirrors and shower glass from The Glass Guru. They generously sponsored the glass portion of our bathroom and I couldn’t be happier with the result.
The Glass Guru has locations all over the US and can help with whatever your glass needs may be. I worked with the Roseville, CA store to select, order and deliver our frameless shower glass and door, plus bathroom mirrors. Keith sketched up a design of our bathroom and where we wanted our fixed panels to go, as well as the door. We talked with a glass specialist over the phone and got advice on door sizing and how to order correctly.
For frameless shower glass exact measurements are key. When opting for frameless we learned there is only about 1/4″ wiggle room from your measurement, so I suggest measure multiple times. It would be awful to need to have your glass recut and we almost did! We tried ordering our glass before our tile was completely installed and it was a close call. Not much room for error, but I absolutely love the look of our frameless shower glass and door.
You can have The Glass Guru order and deliver your glass if you feel confident enough to do the install yourself. Although, I highly recommend having a second person there to help because glass is heavy, expensive and fragile. Keith’s brother helped him and it took about 3 hours to install it themselves. The glass professionals can do it faster because they do it all the time. For an extra fee, let them do the work and take the headache out of trying to make glass fit in a very exact space. They will come out and do the measuring for you as well, but we were in a time crunch with the competition so Keith just sent over our measurements. It was a tight squeeze, but our glass is in and more beautiful than I could have imagined.
To go along with all the fixtures in our master bath renovation we opted for bronze hardware on our shower door. I’m so amazed that the frameless clips are able to hold such heavy glass, but it does the trick! Of course, The Glass Guru has framed shower glass options as well.
We gave The Glass Guru measurements for our vanity mirror, which Keith built a frame for, as well as the specialty mirror Keith was building into a custom pocket door. They turned out perfect! You can also visit their website to see everything they have to offer. I’ll be sharing more of their specialties over the coming months because The Glass Guru can do more than you might think!
