It’s that time of year and who doesn’t love a blustery evening drive to see all the Christmas Lights? Years ago, when our oldest 3 were just babes, we lived in a town that had a few neighborhoods that really did it up BIG with Christmas Lights. Each house features wooden cutouts of characters from various movies. Some houses really go all out and turn their third-car garage into Santa’s workshop! Even though it’s an hour drive from where we live now, we thought it would be the perfect adventure to take our beautiful 2014 Toyota Sienna on. She said she was up for the outing and ready to go. We combined our adventure with an outing to the lovely mall just minutes from Santa’s Winter Wonderland Light Show in Rocklin.
Shelby was the perfect vehicle for such a fun evening. Christmas movie in the built in DVD system. They all had hot chocolate to keep them cozy – and their cups safe in the numerous cup holders. I turned on my luxurious seat warmer to keep me nice and toasty (works great to keep hot pizza warm on the ride home from the pizza take-out) and we were good to go.
It had been several years since we visited the neighborhoods with all the lights, so navigation was put to good use and took us right where we needed to be. The kids all had plenty of window space to get all the views they wanted. I shot many photos out of the sunroof without have to get out and hold up traffic at this popular venue. The Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert came in handy in the crush of traffic in a confined neighborhood street. It would have been a tragedy to spoil our fun evening.
Shelby has Bluetooth Connectivity, so we streamed Christmas Music from my phone using Bluetooth Wireless technology which made our leisurely drive so pleasant and more meaningful for the kids. It was truly a magical evening.
