It really is the thought that counts. Today’s Holiday Gift Guide Giveaway is an eBook titled “Present Perfect” by Sherry Reichert Belul.

Sherry Belul is the founder of Simply Celebrate, a company that offers tips and products to help people practice turning ordinary days into an extraordinary life. She started her company because she feels we need to “wake up to all the joy, spontaneity, color, and connection that is available in every moment. We want you to love the life you have — even when everything doesn’t look exactly like you imagined.” You can check out her website and hear all about her philosophy of celebrating life and loved ones with creativity and connecting.

In “Present Perfect” Sherry has combined a list of 127 gifts from the heart. 60 of her ideas won’t cost you a dime. At the top of that list is what she calls the Love List, and it’s just what it sounds like – making a list of those unique loveable traits about that special someone. The next 36 ideas cost under $20, and the remaining 30 – she says, sometimes you just gotta splurge. Sherry encourages people to give one-of-a- kind gifts because what you are really doing is making a connection. You’re saying “I get you, I know you, I love you so much that I’m reflecting that love back to you via this unique thoughtful, personal gift. She also encourages her readers to think of that person, rather than what you’d like to have in the gift department.

In the no-cost list, she includes homemade, personal items such as handcrafted items, drawings, poetry or even a personally compiled music CD. I really like the idea of the “family recipe book.” Every family has those favorites that evoke special memories of times spent together – which usually involves food, so why not compile all those favorite recipes into one book. Photo albums are another recommendation. The list goes on and on of wonderful, personal touch no-cost gifts. Of course, don’t forget the concept of giving your time!

Some ideas from the “low cost” list include the idea of “dessert of the month club” – what a great idea! Anyone out there who wants to give me a personal gift can sign me up for a special dessert monthly. Books with a personal note are included, as well as things that include your personal talents – like computer repair, massage, car repairs, a gourmet home-cooked meal, etc – whatever your specific skill set includes. That gives me an idea – I could compile a coupon binder with all my skills and instructions for becoming a coupon queen!

The next segment of her list includes things that may cost more, but the key is to think of that person on a personal note – be it tickets to the opera, or sports game, or musical. Or how about a home spa day! Wow – that sounds great. I could go on and on with her many thoughtful ideas, but the idea is for you to buy her EBook and check it out for yourself. The price is reasonable, and it’s the kind of book you’ll refer to again and again, as you think of gift giving. It will be useful throughout the year, not only at Holiday Time.

I think one of the most important things Sherry has done is giving us ways to think of others in a special way. I know after I looked over all her ideas, I was thinking of my loved ones, and those who have a special place in my life, in a different light. Rather than thinking of gift giving as a chore, I put the individual into the equation and my heart felt full. Isn’t that what gift giving should be all about??
