Do you have any Disney Channel fans in your household? If so, then they may have gone crazy to be sitting right in front of the McClain Sisters last Friday, like I was! Not only did I get to sit in front of the McClain Sisters and interview them, but I also got to see them perform their song “Rise”, which was written for Disneynature‘s “chimpanzee”. In case you aren’t completely familiar with who the McClain Sisters are, they are 3 sisters who sing together. The youngest of the 3, China, is on Disney Channel’s A.N.T. Farm! China is 13 years old, Lauryn is 15 and Sierra is 18. I have to say that the McClain Sisters are adorable! They were so bubbly and giddy, and I loved the camaraderie that the three girls had with one another. They were very open about their relationships with one another, what bugged each other, and what they loved about one another. The McClain parents have clearly done a great job in raising their children, in that they have taught them to always stay close. I thought I would share a little of my interview with the McClain Sisters, to give you a feel for what it was like to sit in a room with them. The girls were really great about taking turns in answering questions, and they had so much energy!
How did you react when you found out you would be writing a song for Disneynature’s “chimpanzee”?
They responded with, “That was awesome.” “We kind of freaked out, just a little bit.” “Because Friends for Changehas been a huge campaign for Disney, and for us.Yeah, I was kind of freaking out a little bit.” Since learning about Friends for Change, they have started recycling and turning water off more. They have become more aware of their actions and impact on nature. I think the part of the interview that stuck out to a lot of us was how close the girls really are.
How do you all stay grounded?
They all responded with, “Our parents!” “From the very beginning, they always taught us to always stay humble and you know, always remember what you were taught and always have faith in what you believe in –“. “We are Christians so that helps us too.” The girls say that the best and worst part of working together is that they know everything about each other. They know what buttons to push. Isn’t that what siblings are for? Working together, the girls don’t really feel like it’s work. They have a lot of fun and laughs together. They have movie night and will hang out in each other’s bedroom, just to talk. The McClains are a very musical family and they all work well together. Mom and Dad McClain met through music and really help the girls with inspiration and with their music writing. I would love to spend a day in their household and be a fly on the wall! The McClain Sisters are truly adorable! You can watch the music video of “Rise” from “chimpanzee”, below:
