Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure Still Going Strong + Skylanders Giants Releasing October 21st

Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure is an absolute hit video game experience.  For those of you who have followed my blog for awhile, you might remember that this product was put on my holiday gift guide for the 2011 holiday season.  My boys absolutely love Skylanders.  The way you can enjoy characters on and off the game makes the experience unforgettable.  Our boys even wanted to take them into the bathtub, which we wouldn’t let them do for fear of ruining them.

Skylanders are unique because each character has its own strengths and some are even rare.  With some more exciting news – Activision, the makers of Skylanders, is coming out with a new series of characters with game, called Skylanders Giants. Be keeping an eye out for them in this year’s Holiday Gift Guide!

It has been nearly a year since we received Skylanders, and its popularity is stronger than ever.  One of the twins even got out to Target (with me) to purchase a new Skylanders, to his collection, with some money he earned. He all of a sudden became very chatty with ME! The whole way home from the store was nonstop talking about his new character, Sonic Boom.  I think the anticipation of the experience was intensely fascinating for him.  The other two boys met him at the door and I bet you can guess the first place they went.  They went right to the Portal of Power, alongside  the game console, and their other Skylander characters.  These characters and games even intrigue my boys’ friends.

One notable feature of Skylanders is each character saves its own progress in the game, within itself.  Another cool feature of Skylanders is they are compatible with all kinds of platforms, including Wii, Nintendo 3DS, the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC’s and Macs, as well as on the web, with Skylanders Spyro’s Universe.  This means they can enjoy the game, with their own character, at a friend’s house no matter what game system the friend owns.

If you don’t already have Skylanders, I highly recommend checking it out before the all new game, Skylanders Giants, hits stores on October 21st!
