Fitbit Ultra Wireless Activity Plus Sleep Tracker

Fitbit Ultra

I remember when pedometers started becoming popular way back in the day. I never really got on the bandwagon because I couldn’t see the real benefit of tracking how many steps I took in a day. This Summer at BlogHer, I discovered the Fitbit Ultra, which takes step tracking to a whole new level.

The Fitbit Ultra tracks steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, activity level, stairs climbed, and it even tracks your sleep! The Fitbit is so small and compact that it can clip right onto a pocket, bra or waistband, or fit in your pocket. A huge bonus to the Fitbit Ultra is that the day’s data uploads wirelessly to the internet. The tracker comes with a charging base that plugs into your computer via a USB port. If you are within a certain amount of feet from the base, your data will automatically upload to the Fitbit website. You can keep track of your daily progress and goals.

Another very cool feature is that the Fitbit comes with a comfortable wristlet that you slide the tracker into, when you go to sleep. Hold the button on the Fitbit down, to set it to sleep mode. It will then track how long it takes you to fall asleep and how often you wake up, or are restless, throughout the night. I find this very fascinating!ย With the online tools, you can also track what you eat.

You really get the whole shebang with Fitbit!

I will admit that I was very skeptical of such a tracker, at first. After using the tracker for just one day, I was completely sold on it! When I created an online account, I was given some suggested goals. The goal for steps per day was 10,000. After going about my typical duties for just one day, and checking my steps at the end of the day, I was ashamed. I had only walked 5,000 steps! How embarrassing! That completely motivated me to move a lot more. I spent more time on the treadmill each day, even if I wasn’t running the entire time. I also started going for walks with my daughter, just to get moving more. This can’t be a bad thing right? Another goal was to climb 10 sets of stairs. I happen to live in a 2-story house, but this was still difficult to reach as it took me going up and down my stairs twice, to count as one set of stairs climbed. I decided to try going up and down the stairs one extra time, every time I went up or down.

I really started to reach my goals, and it felt great! The Fitbit Ultra really did motivate me to move more and become more active. A healthy lifestyle is important for all of us, and sometimes we just gotta do what it takes to make it happen. With a tool like the Fitbit Ultra, it makes tracking your lifestyle a little more fun! When you reach certain goals, you are awarded with badges and things, through the website. Join friends and family in tracking your progress!

I have a Fitbit Ultra to give away to one lucky reader. If you don’t win and would like to purchase a Fitbit as a gift, or for yourself, you are in luck because they’ve come down in price. The Fitbit Ultra started out at $99.95, but you can now purchase it for $79.95 on Amazon.
