I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Nutrish for Cats. I received a sample of Nutrish for Cats to facilitate this review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.
If you have been following some of my food posts, you may have heard me talk about how I am trying to make more of our food from all natural ingredients and trying to eat a little healthier. But just because we are eating healthier, doesn’t mean we have to eat bland, boring meals. I love making nutritious meals that are good for my family, yet taste amazing.
So when I recently read a recipe for Rachael Ray’s homemade teriyaki sauce, I was so excited to try it! It was really easy to put together (20 minutes total), and had an amazing flavor that turned my healthy meal of brown rice and chicken breast into something truly gourmet!
To prepare I simply mixed all of the ingredients and brought them to a low boil for 15 minutes, stirring constantly.
I wish that you all could have been in my kitchen as I was doing this, because the smell was indescribable! The mix of ginger and garlic had this heavenly scent that reminded me of a really authentic Chinese Restaurant, or walking down the streets of China Town in San Francisco.
After my sauce had thickened I poured it into a casserole dish with the chicken breasts that I had planned for dinner. Even before they where grilled up I could tell this was going to be good! I let the chicken marinate for about 6 hours, before grilling it outside on the BBQ.
To complete the meal, I plated a serving of cooked brown rice topped with a layer of fresh sweet Italian peppers that I picked up at our local farmers market. The beautiful red, green and purple peppers (I didn’t even know purple peppers existed before seeing them there) where the perfect way to add some attractive colors to the dish. I topped the peppers with the grilled chicken breast for a really easy, yet gourmet meal!
I had reserved a small bowl of the Teriyaki sauce to use to drizzle over the top of the finished meal, and I’m glad that I did, as it was the perfect way to add a final touch of flavor to the dish.
I’m so happy that I tried out this sauce, as it is something I would normally never think to make myself. However, I was pleasantly surprised at just how easy it was to make. It really turned the meal into something spectacular, that the whole family complemented me on!

Notes
This cat food is amazing! To create it, Rachel worked with a team of pet nutrition experts to create a food for cats that uses simple ingredients and no artificial products, preservatives or meat-by-products. As soon as I opened the container of “Chicken Purrcata” wet food, I could tell the difference! The food was chunks of all white-meat chicken in a light gravy that looked and smelled like… Chicken! That is because in all of the Nutrish recipes, real chicken or salmon is always the #1 ingredient. It was so refreshing to give my cats REAL food! I served it to them with a side of Nutrish “Real Chicken and Brown Rice Recipe” dry cat food, so my cats got to eat the same gourmet meal that we did!

Um….we don’t have a Costco in our area, so I can’t stock up on anything lol. BUT, if we DID have one, I would say that I would probably stock up on juice boxes. Hopefully they would be cheaper there. And toilet paper and maybe dog food, if they carry good, quality brands.
