I love Fall! It’s the season of crisp evenings, cool mornings and Fall changes all around. The only downfall to the changing season is the ushering in of Cold and Flu Season. Since I work with kids, both as a mom and as a preschool teacher, I feel like germs are everywhere, especially at this time of year. So I really need to be vigilant when I feel a cold coming on, in order to avoid winding up sick. One thing I arm myself with is a homemade Soothing Lemon Ginger Tea. I’m pleased to partner with Safeway to show you how to make this soothing tea, and some cold and flu products that help me.
A couple of weekends ago, I came home from teaching my preschoolers and was feeling a cold coming on. You know the feeling – when you aren’t really sick but you feel the ache in your bones and the scratch in your throat warning you that your body is working hard to fight off a cold. Feeling this (and knowing I really didn’t want to get a full-blown cold), I headed to Safeway to stock up on some supplies to doctor myself up! I love shopping at Safeway because I can stock up on my organic items, cough and cold medicines, and of course, the yummy bakery picks.
Being a little achy and tired, I wanted to make one stop for everything needed for the weekend. I know that along with carrying all of my family’s favorite products, Safeway here in Northern California also carries its exclusive line of effective and affordable over the counter pharmaceutical products known as Signature Care™. Signature Care products provide the same quality and relief that national name brands do, but at a better value. Because Signature Care products are pharmacist recommended and contain the same active ingredients and are subject to the same manufacturing standards as national brands, I know that they are safe for myself and my family. All Signature Care products are sold exclusively at Safeway in XX area and come with a 100% satisfaction guaranteed or your money back promise, so I can also trust it’s a product I will love! I picked up some Signature Care Cough Drops in Honey Lemon flavor for the sore throat, and Signature Care Cold/Flu Relief Softgels Daytime (just in case in turned into a full-blown cold).
While at Safeway, I also snagged a few items to make my go-to drink to keep the cold and flu symptoms away, Soothing Lemon and Ginger Tea! This tea, made from fresh lemons, ginger and honey, is so soothing for scratchy throats as well as for just warming up body and soul! It’s packed with Vitamin C and antioxidants, so it’s a great drink to enjoy all Fall and Winter, just to stay healthy! I shopped around the Safeway O Organics® section and grabbed a big bag of fresh organic lemons, ginger root and O Organics 100% organic Honey to make some up (see full recipe below). Although the recipe only requires 1 lemon, I like to get a big bag of lemons and juice them all. I then freeze the extra juice in ice cube trays, and pop one into a mug each morning for a quick morning tea!
Thanks to the great items I got from the Safeway Signature Care line, and a nutrient boost from sipping on my soothing lemon tea all weekend, I kept my cold at bay and was ready to teach my preschoolers on Monday morning!
