ChorePay: Web-Based Tool For Families to Manage Chores + More

A couple of weeks ago, I reviewed a website where you can keep track of your kids’ chores and allowance. Well, I’ve got something new for you. ChorePay is a new start-up that is a web-based tool for families to manage chores, teach financial responsibility, and encourage charitable giving. Upon first glance at ChorePay, the site is bright and the graphics are very kid friendly. I feel that the layout is very user friendly for the kids too.

The goal of ChorePay is to not only to streamline household chore management for families, but also help parents to establish key financial values for their children.  This is something that I feel is very important. In this day and age, there are far too many children who grow up to become adults who have no clue at how to manage their money. Financial values are something we can be teaching our children now.

For convenience, you can log into your ChorePay account via facebook. Once you are logged in, you can assign your kids chores, via the website, or their new app! After the child’s chore is complete, they are credited with ChoreBucks. ChoreBucks can be saved, spent or donated. This is another great conversation that parents and children can be having – whether to save, spend or donate. ChoreBucks can be spent in the ChorePay Mall, where you will find a wide variety of products from electronics, toys, crafts, fashion, books and more. What I like about the Mall is that there are different Featured Deals to shop for. There are new items added to the Mall, daily.

Some extra bonus features of ChorePay are that Unique “Wallets” can be created for each Parent, Guardian, Child, and Benefactor. To keep track of chores, a “Star” system is used. This allows a parent or guardian to assign a chore without a cash value, which I think is great because not every small small daily tasks around the house is deserving of a cash payment.  The child can be rewarded with an activity, etc. when a predetermined number of Stars have been earned. This is often how I reward my kids for chores and helping out.

The bottom line for me is that I feel, as a parent, that I always need something new and fresh to keep my kids’ attention and engagement. ChorePay is appealing to the kids because of it’s technology based system. Anything to keep the kids engaged and listening, is great with me.

ChorePay provided me with compensation for my time complete a review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

  • We plan to use something like this for our son when he’s old enough for chores and allowance. I think it’s a fun way to get kids involved in keeping up the house!
