The Avengers Augmented Reality App + Family Movie Night #MarvelAvengersWMT #CBias

Marvel’s The Avengers was released on DVD and Blu-ray this past Tuesday, which is some super exciting news. I absolutely loved the movie in the theater, and couldn’t wait to watch it at home. To bring some more fun to the table, you have got to download The Avengers Augmented Reality App, which can be found in the Google Play store under “SuperHero AR”. Walmart stores are also carrying The Avengers Exclusive Blu-ray Combo Gift Pack with Graphic Novel. The kids thought this was so cool and couldn’t wait to open it up!

The Augmented Reality App will bring your shopping experience to life by allowing you to scan the Avengers symbol on select Avengers merchandise, with your Android or iPhone (and other apple products). The Avengers symbol displayed on products showed us more content based on the movie, on my phone, which could be enjoyed in the Walmart shopping atmosphere. Once you scan select merchandise, you can interact with your phone by playing games, taking quizzes, or watching 3-D clips straight off the products in store, via your phone! The picture above is what you see from your phone, while looking at The Avengers DVD. The app is so neat!

I headed to Walmart today, with hubby and Little Girl. We decided to plan a family movie night, around the release of The Avengers and the Augmented Reality App. We shopped for party supplies and snacks and came across tons of Avengers products along the way. The Walmart Marketplace Pizza even have Avengers characters on the boxes, and they can be scanned in on your phone.

We had fun browsing in the various departments, looking for as many triggers as we could. In the clothing department there was even a Caption America sweatshirt in my husband’s size.

When my daughter heard we were having a SuperHero party, she was a little disheartened because she didn’t think there would be anything for her. Then we came across a plastic cup with Black Widow on it. We just had to get it.

I just had to try on The Incredible Hulk mask while at Walmart. What do you think – is it me?

My twin boys love super heroes so when they got home from school, the party was a nice surprise for them.  I cooked the pizza while I made vanilla pudding, dying it green with food coloring, and putting it in clear cups with the face of the Hulk.  A party for my husband couldn’t be complete without Red Vine Licorice.  We took the licorice and made it a substitute for Thor’s Hammer (riiight?).  Each of my four children colored their own mask with the various Avenger heroes. These can be printed for free online.  For Captain America, the red, white, & blue drink consisted of fruit punch on the base of the glass, blue Zero Gatorade in the middle, and Sprite Zero ice cube mixture that resembled the white color.  Unfortunately the blue looked more like a light violet and that could only be seen in a few of the glasses. I tried.

After enjoying our pizza and fun games on The Avengers Augmented Reality App, we sent the kids to bed and the hubs and I enjoyed a movie night to ourselves.  We promised the kids that we would show them selected, monitored, scenes tomorrow after school.  My kids are still fairly young, otherwise  I would have let them stay up to watch all of the movie. Believe me, they wanted to! All the action, drama, & humor was almost as good as seeing the movie in the theater.

Select Walmart stores will be having special Avengers Character appearances on Saturday, September 29th. Be sure to follow Marvel on Twitter and Facebook.
