New Fresh Step Triple Action Litter Put to the Sniff Test (Giveaway)

I was recently sponsored by the makers of Fresh Step® Litter to conduct a “sniff test” of their all new Triple Action Litter. Read on to find out how it scored against some of the toughest noses I know!

One of my favorite things about fall is the smells! I love the smells of a crisp fall morning, wet leaves, fall candles burning, pumpkin goodies baking or a hearty soup simmering on the stove. However, nothing destroys the ambience created by those homely fall smells quicker then the smell of used kitty litter.

When the weather turns cooler my cats, who practically lived outdoors during the summer, suddenly want to spend their days curled up on a blanket inside. I guess I can’t blame them much there! While cuddling up with my cats on a chilly fall night does add to the nostalgia of the season, it also adds to the strain on the litter box.

Fortunately, Fresh Step’s new Triple Action Litter is revolutionizing the way that cat litter is made, so that the litter box always stays clean and fresh, leaving you to enjoy the more pleasant smells of fall. They have done this once before when they added carbon to their Fresh Step Litter. Now they have taken it a step further by adding chlorophyll and essential oils to their formula. To put it to the test, I recently conducted a “sniff test”, to see how Fresh Step Triple Action Litter compared against two other leading cat litter brands. I had three containers ( A, B and C) which contained equal amounts of cat litter along with two drops of garlic oil. I enlisted the help of my niece, to be the exam proctor (since I knew the answers, and my husband thought I would coerce the exam participants to get the results I wanted!)

I took the test over to my parent’s house when we all would be there for a family dinner. After dinner, I let my niece get to work administering the test to 10 of my family members. She was an amazing test proctor and explained to each person that they should smell each container and name the letter of the one that smelled the best (the least garlicky). She even had a candle for the participants to smell in between sniffs, to clear their nasal palettes.

Of the 10 people in the test, every person picked “sample B” which was the sample with the Fresh Step Triple Action Liter mixed with the garlic oil. When my wonderful participants smelled the other two samples they said that they could smell the garlic very strongly (it was pretty pungent) but with the Fresh Step sample, the garlic oil was barely recognizable!

For the real test, I allowed some of the pickiest noses in my home to try out the litter… My two cats Fudgie and Tails. They both have been using the litter for a week and seem to be fairly satisfied… As much as cats ever are!

    We are a rescue family, so here goes…Let’s see – our newest, Mr. Mao, Happy Cat, Cougar, Shinagami (Fiery Death in Japanese), Sissy, Indy (Short for Independence because he walked up on a July 4th), Mama Flower. That makes 7. That is all…p.s. we have a “cat” room with a cat door that goes outside to an enclosed area. We also maintain 4 litter boxes…That’s a lot of litter!!!

    My two best friends are Gizmo and Ollie. Gizmo gets kind of picky if I miss a day of scooping the litter box so he keeps me on my toes!

    Cats, none. But we have three ferrets, which are fairly comparable! They are equally as curious and playful! My family members have lots of cats, and I would gift these coupons to them if i was blessed to win!

    I am currently feeding 10 cats – all are/were strays. Mom Cat, Marshmallow, Scout, Ranger, Buffy and Yowler live in the house now. Sneakers & Frost come in when they want or when I force them to because of the weather. Smudge is now finally tame but hasn’t come in yet but will be forced in if necessary. Cry Baby is still untouchable at this point but is very demanding about being fed. Needless to say we go through a lot of kitty litter and odor control is important.

    we have 7 kitties..this is what happens when you foster for a rescue group 😉 lol!! we have willie, kiki, mickey, minnie, abbie, alice and lele…..6 rescues and an adopted stray …guess he is a rescue too! kitty litter would be so nice…we use a lot!!
