Reverse Charades
Tis’ the season for fun, friends and festivities! At a friend’s recent holiday party we enjoyed all of these. Several of our friends gathered for a fun night of delicious appetizers, good company and lots of fun and laughter. After enjoying some time to eat and mingle, it was time for us to all break out of our comfort zone a little with some fun party games. One of these games was “Reverse Charades“. I’ll admit, when I first heard the word “charades” uttered, the panic set in a little. I love playing games and even enjoy watching and guessing other people act out their charade, but when its time for me to act, I panic a little! I am not the best person for “thinking on my feet” and I have a fear that I will get in front of everyone and my mind will “go blank”.
However, Reverse Charades was a fun take on the game that took the pressure off of any one player, got everyone involved, and made for a really enjoyable game! Reverse charades follows all of the rules of the traditional party game, except for the twist… Only one player per team guesses, and all of the other team mates work together to “act out” the clue. The tricky part is that the team cannot discuss how they will act the word out. No peep allowed, so you have to follow each other, or make up your own thing, without discussing anything. It’s great fun!
At the party, we played the holiday edition of reverse charades, which added to the festivities of the party! Teams huddled together to form an igloo, danced around like sugar plum fairies, and one couple even kissed, while other team mates acted out a New Year’s Eve countdown.
This would be a fun game to play at a Christmas party, New Year’s Eve celebration, or family get together as it can include a lot of players at one time, making it versatile for large groups. It would also be a great game to play with families, as kids could easily join in right along with the adults.
Reverse charades is available at Amazon in the standard version, holiday edition, junior edition, girls night in edition and sports edition (one that I would love to play with my family of sports fans).
If you are looking to get it in time for a New Years Eve Party, they have a version of reverse charades as an app for your iPhone, iPad or other smartphone. The app lets you set up teams, play the game and keep score right on your phone. It even gives you a few sample cards from each edition for free, and allows you to purchase an entire deck of cards for only $.99!
Now for a giveaway! One lucky Clever Housewife reader will win their own box of Reverse Charades! Some laughs are surely headed your way! This giveaway will end at 11:59pm PST on 1/13/13. To enter, answer the questions in the form below.
